This is a Podcast specifically reaching out to my female listeners. I have been asked to begin a source for healing for victims of rape. Did you know that statistics tell us; one in three of us have experienced molestation or sexual abuse at least once in our lives? Another interesting statistic says that the average age of women coming forward with their experiences is fifty-three years old! Imagine the years of suffering and carrying whatever feelings go along with this invasion for so long? Due to the appeals of women of my acquaintance to finally address their rapes I am putting a book together to give them and you a platform on which to have a voice and begin your recovery. The reason Dr. Fran created this podcast is because she has a passion to move people out of sexual inertia, even devout Christians. As a former Roman Catholic nun, she has lived a life of great transition and along the way has unlearned the lies that kept her trapped in sexual ignorance for years. Having gone through the transitions of her life, she now has the scope of knowledge to address issues across the board, across all ages and all topics and she’d like to share that knowledge with you. After 25 years as a practicing RN, Dr. Fran earned a Ph.D. in Human Sexuality and is now an AASECT certified sexuality counselor and clinical sexologist. About Fran FisherEntering a Roman Catholic convent at age 18 left an indelible mark on me. Leaving before my 21st was devastating. However, marriage and children quickly moved my life forward. After 25 years of marriage, raising two children and working as an RN I decided to take a fresh look at my future. I took a year to investigate alternatives and by chance took a weekend workshop (for CE’s) at the Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality, San Francisco, a graduate school specializing in Human Sexuality. This chance workshop changed the trajectory of my life. The implications for my patients and their intimate partners was obvious once my mind began to expand and appreciate the vastness of the problem. That was more than a decade ago and now in my role as a practicing RN and with a thriving private practice in Sexology, life is very different.
